18K & Colored Stones Elephant Brooch

One late twentieth century 18 karat yellow gold elephant shaped brooch encrusted with diamonds and colored stones. It is bezel set with eleven oval cabochon cut sapphires measuring approximately 4.0 x 3.0 millimeters, with medium to dark blue color, and light to moderately included. There are five bezel set oval cabochon cut rubies measuring approximately 6.0 x 3.75 millimeters, are medium to dark red and moderate to heavily included. It contains one prong set cushion shaped ruby measuring approximately 2.7 x 2.5 millimeters in the elephant's eye, which is medium dark red, and lightly included. It also contains thirteen pave set round emeralds measuring approximately 2.0 to 2.6 millimeters and eight bezel set round emeralds measuring approximately 2mm medium green in color, and moderately included. There are 263 pave set full cut diamonds totaling approximately 3.95 carats and averaging a G-H color and VS clarity. Impressed makers mark "MXM" along the bale. Impressed hallmark "18K" along the bale.
