18th Century Pamphlet, 'An Act for the Regulation of His Majesty's Marine Forces While on Shore', printed by Charles Eyre & Andrew Strahan 1793, 'While it may be necessary for the safety of this Kingdom and the defence of the possessions of the crown of Great Britain, that a body of Marine Forces should be employed in His Majesty's Fleet and Naval Service under the direction of the Lord High Admiral..', lays out the rules re victualling and quartering officers and Marines, courts marshal, desertion, muster rolls, subsistence money, penalties for 'destroying the game' (poaching), constables apprehending deserters, penalties for 'persons concealing deserters or receiving their arms, clothes, etc..', together with a Victorian map marked to the back 'Map of the River Avon with the weirs marked', bottom of map marked 'Engraved at the drawing room of the Tower under the direction of Col. Mudge by Benj. Baker & assistants, the writing by Ebenz. Bourne, published 14th August 1817 by Col. Mudge, Tower', and 'Printed from an electrotype taken in 1865'.Show more
