18c Indian bronze NOBLE SHAIVITE SAINT / DEVOTEE
Very rare 18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of a noble Shaivite devotee or saint seated on a lotus throne with one foot pendant, wearing a turban, holding a vessel with oil for performing temple rituals and a Shiva lingam altar in his hands, wearing a a lingam box pendant on his chest. Superb detailing, excellent tranquil face, rich jewelry necklace, bracelets and anklets, beautiful devotional wear, crevices with remnants of sandalwood paste used during worship, pleasantly heavy. Height 4 1/2 inches.
