18th C. Gold Ring w/ Rose Quartz Glass Cameo

Northern Europe, Neoclassical period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A gorgeous, ovoid rose quartz and glass intaglio of a bearded man set in a gold ring. Shown in profile, the elegant male faces left displaying a heavy-lidded eye, a straight nose, and pursed lips engulfed in a short, wavy beard. A slender headband crowns his wavy, thick coiffure. The gold ring boasts an elegantly minimalist form, presenting a thin border surrounding the cameo as well as a slender band with a thick mid-rib. Size (ring): 1" Diameter x 1.1" W (2.5 cm x 2.8 cm); (intaglio): 0.9" L x 0.6" W (2.3 cm x 1.5 cm); gold quality: 59.8% (equivalent to 14K+); total weight: 8.2 grams; US ring size: 6.25
