18th C. Indian Polychrome Wood Panel w/ Botanical Motif

South Asia, India, ca. 18th century CE. A gorgeous hand-carved wood relief of rectangular form depicting a phytomorphic motif adorned in hues of emerald, forest green, and turquoise. The elegant example is divided into two registers. The larger register is intricately sculpted with swirling vines, foliates, and phytomorphic designs, while the top bares a minimalistic pattern of a repeated petaloid motif and an undulating vine with 5 flowers. A beautiful example from Indian culture! Size: 43.5" L x 7.5" W (110.5 cm x 19 cm)

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000
