Central Asia, India, ca. late 18th to early 19th century CE. A beautiful deep red sandstone window panel, known as a jali, with an interlocking, diamond/hexagonal latticework pattern that exemplifies the Mughal aesthetic. Imagine the beautiful shadows and light interplay that would have occurred when the sun shone through this window! Size: 10.75" W x 8.95" H (27.3 cm x 22.7 cm)
