18th CENTURY BRUXELLES LACE (8) - Cotton - Late 18th century

8 superb pieces of Bruxelles lace. dimensions; 1 piece 50cmx50cm 2 pieces 40cmx40cm 1 piece 32cmx38cm 1 piece 32cmx50cm 3 pieces 25cmx35cm These pieces came to light recently when we obtained some bedlinen from a French Country house and the extraordinary thing happened that they were found in between sheets and carefully wrapped in tissu paper. The owners were not aware of it and they think they must have been there for a very long time as the sheets had not been in use since the early 19OOs and thus must have come from their Great Grandmother. Considering their age they are in excellent condition other than a few tine holes in 2 pieces. The time spent on each piece must have been considerable and each piece is exquisite in their own right.
