The scallop-moulded oval tureen base issuing two out-curling scroll-form handles, outlined in gold enamel; the conforming top with voided areas for the handles to the sides; and step-moulded, the knop formed in high relief as a recumbant cow. The top and sides painted in bright polychrome enamels with floral sprays and sprigs; the cover with gilt to the voided ends. Impressed shield mark to underside of base, with O next to it. The shield and O over two dots. Nymphenburg, Germany. Circa 1765. 5 1/4" H. x 7 1/2" W. x 6" D. By descent from the Kaumheimer family, Stuttgart, Germany. 1/2" L. firing crack to caw, rear hooves toward stomach. Minor gilding wear.
