Thick copper repousse (if 19thC likely thinner walled than this), Well-constructed, very solid, and in exceptional condition. Best of this type you will encounter in this size anywhere outside a museum or book. The previous owner, who lives in New York City, inherited it from a relative who purchased it through an auction in Russia many years ago when a small Eastern Russian regional museum was closed down. Item 6666 on my website, one of my all-time best Mongolian sculptures, came from the same source.
