1904 1ed Morocco Forrest & Bensusan Water-Color ART Illustrated PRIZE Binding

A rare first edition of Forrest’s novel “Morocco” published as part of Adam and Charles Black ninety-two (20 shillings) series of color books. The Edwardian period was, perhaps, the peak time for book illustrations and The Adam and Charles Black's 20-shilling series used watercolor artists who were the first to use the new "three color" process for color plates. The 20-Shillings Series was created to be in line with the popularity of Dulac and Dore color engravings. The books were lavish in their use of color illustrations with most volumes having 70 or more color plates.

The cover designs also mark out the 20-shilling series as special and were mostly the work of A.A. Turbayne and his colleagues at Carlton Studio. Many of the covers show the scarab motif of Turbayne (for example Kent) or the CS monogram of Carlton studios.

This 1904 first edition book about Morocco includes 74 full-page color illustrations.
