The 1911-D two and a half remains the biggest challenge of the series to acquire in high grade, surviving in numbers far lower than the inflated certified population reports would suggest. We rarely offer a Gem-quality example, and Choice coins are only infrequently presented. This CAC 1911-D represents an elusive high-end standout among certified near-Gems. The strike is sharp, and the mintmark is clear. Both sides display the usual satin luster but with a soft orange-gold hue. Only a few light marks determine the grade.
