1914 Risque Photograph, Josie Earp? Kaloma
Original 8x10 (7-3/4" x 9-5/8") photo titled "Innocence," embossed "Copyright 1914 - P.N. CO." lower right. Back has stamp "Pastime Novelty Co., 1343 Broadway, New York." The subject is presumed to be "Kaloma," the model for the controversial risque portrait famously believed by many historians to depict Josephine Earp, the wife of Arizona gunslinger Wyatt Earp. (As many historians believe the picture not to show Mrs. Earp -- the disagreement has been raging for about three decades.) This photo is in fine condition, especially for its age. The back has some paper and glue remnant from its having been attached to a board or album page.
