THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

More designer than businessman, Buick lacked talent in the latter role, a shortcoming that led to a number of changes of ownership in the firm's early years before its founder was eventually eased out in 1908, his departure from the Buick Motor Company coinciding with its establishment as the cornerstone of new owner William C Durant's General Motors. Under Durant's stewardship production rose dramatically from 750 cars in 1905 to 8,802 in 1908 when Buick's most popular model was the four-cylinder Model 10, priced at $900 and a direct competitor for Ford's Model T.

By the time this Model C24 was built, Buick's four-cylinder cars were powered by an overhead-valve engine, the one in this example displacing 221ci. The Model C24 was available only as a two-door, two-seat roadster and was priced at $900. One of 3,256 produced in 1915, this example is of left hand drive configuration, 1913 being the final year of right side Buicks. They also benefited from a Delco electric starter and lighting system from 1914.

The car we present from this collection was proudly acquired as a time-warp unrestored example joining a number of others of its brand in the stable. It is a nice stock version for which the original purchaser chose two of the three options available being a speedometer and dash spot lighter. The car was one of the more recent acquisitions, secured in March 2019 from a Norman Usilton of Delaware.

Its mechanical condition is unknown, so the car is sold 'as is'.
