1920s Bakelite Lidded Jar + French Card Case for Ecarte

Western Europe, France, ca. 19th century CE; United States, ca. 1910s to 1940s CE. A dainty Bakelite box and a French wood card case. The Bakelite jar is circular with a mottled hue; the lid inlaid with brass and copper stars, hearts, and a flower bouquet at the center. The wood box is an antique French case for holding playing cards; cut and faceted steel rivets are artistically set in the lid and spell out "Ecarte," a 2-person casino game. The case is in great condition and the button latch functions. Size of Ecarte box: 6.75" L x 4.25" W x 1" H (17.1 cm x 10.8 cm x 2.5 cm)

Condition Report: Bakelite box has a chipped and loss to interior rim, and base disc is cracked and coming away from sides. Lid is intact. Wood case is in great condition. Some wear and white deposits near the steel rivets of the "Ecarte." A few chips to wood, and stable fissure on base, otherwise intact.
