Europe, France, ca. 1925. A large and aesthetically impressive French Art Deco sculpture comprised of a water buffalo skull embellished with a brass bezel overlaid with red and grey pigment on the forehead, hammered white metal on the bottom of the skull, glass eyes, and grand natural horns. Water buffalo are gentle giants that were most likely introduced to Europe from India or Southeast Asia. This unique sculpture pays homage to the noble animal in Art Deco splendor. Size: 48" W x 14" deep x 49.75" H (121.9 cm x 35.6 cm x 126.4 cm); 60.5" H (153.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection; purchased from Harvey Art & Antiques, Evanston, Illinois ca. 2010
