Uniforms, campaign hat, photos, and discharge papers from the service of Private First Class James A. Merkle, USMC. He enlisted in February of 1919, and served four years as a sea service Marine aboard the USS Utah where he qualified as an expert rifleman. The grouping includes Merkle's service green jacket and trousers with 1920s era enlisted Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblems, his campaign hat which has 5 rows of stitching on the brim and a period correct enlisted Eagle Globe and Anchor emblem. Also comes with 19 photographs of the Utah, Merkle's navy and Marine corps friends, and scenes from his various ports of call, as well as 3 copied sets of his discharge paperwork. Excellent
