1920s US NAVY CHIEF

[ translate ]

Complete US Navy Chief's uniform - the iconic double-breasted jacket with bullion "crow" Chief Yeoman rate hand sewn in an "X-stitch" pattern on the left sleeve, and three ribbons denoting awards of the Sampson Medal, 1st Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, and Spanish Campaign Medal. This sailor was a veteran of the Spanish American War and remained in service into the World War I era. Light fading and a few age wear spots to the coat and pants. Also includes a very scarce WWI era Navy chief's bell crown cover with burlap and leather lining and correct Chief's USN anchor cap badge. Also includes the scarce US Navy chief's vest with silk back and brass Navy buttons. Lastly, the grouping comes with a souvenir pillow cover which has a Navy Chief's rating in the center and 4 cap tallies presumably from ships on which this Chief served. They are the USS Missouri, the USS Winslow, the USS Yankee, and the USS Atlanta. All four of these vessels sailed during and just after the Spanish American War and were decommissioned in the early 20th Century. Very Good - Excellent
