1930s Richard Hudnut Du Barry Art Deco compact powder
Early 1930s Richard Hudnut Du Barry Art Deco compact with remnants of the fine texture powder in skin tone. The Du Barry scent is still detectable despite the age of the powder. The compact has a silvery metal with black and pink enamels, abstract Art Deco design, with inside mirror.
Du Barry (1902) was a premium perfume created by Richard Hudnut that he used to scent one of his more expensive face powders along with a few other items. Some skin creams, such as Contour Cream and Foundation Cream, were added to the range in the early 1920s but it was not until 1929 that the line was developed as Richard Hudnut's premier cosmetic range in the United States. This product line remained successful during the 1930s.
Richard Hudnut's legacy is based on his creation of perfumery and cosmetics of notable quality, which were presented in distinctively decorated, and packaged containers. These beautiful and artful containers made Richard Hudnut perfumes and cosmetics still very collectible today.

Condition Report: The compact is 1.1/4" x 2.1/8" (3.3cm x 5.3cm); silvery metal with black and pink enamels, abstract Art Deco design, the inside mirror is aged with some dark spots, the compact's surface show some wear and enamel damages, the clasp is very good, very good working condition (see pictures).
