1930s Santo Domingo Pueblo Polychrome Chile Bowl

Native American, Southwest, Santo Domingo Pueblo, ca. 1930s CE. A hand built polychrome pottery bowl created by the traditional coil-and-scrape method used for serving chile. The lovely dish presents a hemispherical body with a flat base, thick, curved walls, and an annular rim. Though the interior is enveloped in a creamy hue of beige, the exterior of the fine vessel is adorned with a thick black and beige band of an abstract pattern near the rim and a warm shade of burnt orange on the base. Size: 7.25" in diameter x 3.25" H (18.4 cm x 8.3 cm)
