La Chrysler Airflow est une excellente illustration du mouvement artistique appelé Streamline Moderne qui prend racine au début des années 30 et consiste à appliquer des formes fluides à des objets usuels, notamment en architecture, ou pour les transports. L'Airflow sera ainsi une des premières automobiles à s'intéresser à l'aérodynamique et à en proposer l'interprétation au grand public. Cependant, il semblerait que cette démarche soit arrivée trop tôt dans l'histoire pour que ce modèle récolte le succès escompté. Sa production ne durera qu'entre 1934 et 1937.
Cette Chrysler Airflow a intégré la collection en 1983, elle était alors entre les mains du même propriétaire parisien depuis 1963. Fait incroyable, nous avons retrouvé dans le dossier le certificat d'avril 1935 qui atteste du paiement des droits de douane lorsque la voiture a été importée en France. Nous avons également relevé une facture de 1972, lorsqu'André Trigano avait procédé à une remise en route de la voiture qui n'avait visiblement pas roulé depuis longtemps.
Signe d'une voiture soignée, elle dispose toujours de son instruction book d'origine. Originale, cette pièce de design semble en état d'origine et a simplement été repeinte par le passé. Complète, avec ses attributs spécifiques au marché français (phares Marchal, compteur en kilomètres), cette pièce de collection ne manquera pas d'attirer l'attention de connaisseurs.

The Chrysler Airflow is a perfect example of the artistic movement called Modern Streamline which took root in the early the 1930s and consists of applying fluid shapes to everyday objects, particularly in architecture or transport. The Airflow will thus be one of the first cars to feature aerodynamics. However, it would appear that this approach occurred to early in history for this model to be as successful as expected. Its production only lasted between 1934 and 1937.
This example joined the collection in 1983 and had been owned by the same person in Paris since 1963. We have found the file of the car, the certificate dated April 1935 which attests the payment of the customs duties when the car was imported into France. There is also a bill from 1972 showing an overhaul of the car which obviously had not been running since a while.
A sign of a well kept car, it still has its original owner's manual. It seems to be in original condition and has only been painted in the past. Complete, with its specific attributes to the French market (Marchal headlights, odometer in kilometers), this original car item will not fail to attract the attention of connoisseurs.
PLEASE NOTE THAT CONTRARY TO WHAT IS STATED IN THE PAPER CATALOGUE IT IS NOT AN IMPERIAL VERSION.
We inform buyers that all the vehicles in the collection have been little used during the last years as they are part of a museum collection. They are sold as presented and therefore require recommissioning before being driven on the public roads.
Since the catalog was published, the majority of the vehicles have undergone a technical inspection (French MOT). We invite you to consult the files of the cars.
