1938-D 5C Buffalo, MS

[ translate ]

1938-D 5C MS66 PCGS. In 1938, only the Denver Mint produced Buffalo nickels, totaling more than 7 million pieces, marking the series' final issue. Neither the Philadelphia Mint nor the San Francisco Mint minted 1938 Buffalo nickels. According to David W. Lange in The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels, collectors and dealers saved many high-grade examples, with the 1938-D being hoarded "by the thousands in rolls." This high-luster Premium Gem example features sharply struck surfaces enveloped in attractive champagne-gold toning. Eye appeal is excellent. Selections From The Towers Collection.
