1942 Diamond T Pickup

[ translate ]

No Reserve. Founded by C.A. Tilt, Diamond T built a reputation for producing some of America's most stylish, durable and prestigious commercial trucks. This 1942 Diamond T Model 201 half-ton pickup represents one of the company's most attractive prewar designs, distinguished by its tall barrel-shaped grille, integrated headlights, rounded fenders and signature silver door inserts. Reportedly one of fewer than 200 Model 201 trucks produced for 1942 before civilian production was curtailed by World War II, this example was discovered complete on a farm in Marshall, Indiana. Remarkably, it was driven approximately 400 miles home before being entrusted to Jim Remick of Remick Custom Paint & Body Restoration in Akron, Ohio, for a comprehensive transformation. Finished in a handsome two-tone blue combination inspired by its original dark-blue paint, the truck retains its dramatic factory styling while incorporating tasteful custom touches. The original hood ornament, hood vents, bumpers and running boards were restored and retained, while shaved door handles, commercial-style mirrors and a subtly modified bed add a refined custom appearance. A color-matched vintage trunk provides weather-resistant storage in the bed. Inside, the cab features a custom blue leather bench seat, matching stitched door panels, dark-blue carpeting, a fitted headliner and a leather-wrapped steering wheel on a tilt column. Vintage Air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD stereo, auxiliary audio input, custom Diamond T pedals, aftermarket gauges and operational crank-open windshields provide modern comfort without sacrificing the truck's unmistakable period character. Power is supplied by a reliable Chevrolet 350-cubic-inch V8 equipped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake, HEI ignition and a large radiator with electric cooling fan. It is paired with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a GM 10-bolt rear axle. A late-1970s Pontiac Firebird front subframe adds power steering, front disc brakes and greatly improved ride and handling, while a vacuum-assisted braking system, updated suspension and dual exhaust make the truck comfortable and capable at modern highway speeds. Finished with painted steel wheels, hubcaps, trim rings and staggered Goodyear wide-whitewall radial tires, this rare Diamond T combines distinctive prewar styling, quality craftsmanship and dependable hot-rod performance in a package unlikely to be duplicated. Why you should buy it: An incredibly rare truck that has been modernized for practical driving. MILEAGE: 83616. VIN: R733953.
