1944 50C

[ translate ]

1944 50C MS67+ PCGS. CAC. From a mintage of more than 28 million pieces, the 1944 Walking Liberty half dollar is typically considered a common date, although most examples known grade no finer than MS66. Examples are elusive in MS67, and only a handful of coins are known in MS68 with four reported at PCGS and another four at NGC (1/24). A crescent of vivid sea-green and jade-gray toning graces the peripheries of both sides of this Plus-graded Superb Gem. The design elements are sharply detailed in most areas, with just a touch of softness on Liberty's hand and the eagle's leg. Vibrant mint luster is apparent on both sides and eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 53 in 67+, 4 finer. CAC has seen 1 finer (3/24). Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2011), lot 4481.
