1944-D 50C MS67+ PCGS. CAC. From a substantial wartime mintage of more than 9.7 million pieces, the 1944-D Walking Liberty half dollar is not too difficult to locate at the MS67 grade level, but Plus-graded examples, with CAC approval, are definitely elusive, and finer coins are virtually unobtainable. This Plus-graded Superb Gem features well-detailed design elements, with some of the usual softness is apparent on the wreath hand and eagle's leg. The virtually flawless, lustrous surfaces are enhanced by highlights of sea-green and lavender-gray toning. PCGS has graded only one numerically finer example and CAC has seen none finer (3/24).
