1947-D 50C

[ translate ]

1947-D 50C MS67+ NGC. The Denver Mint struck a smallish mintage of 3.9 million Walking Liberty half dollars in 1947, the last year the popular design was struck. Fortunately, the issue was well-produced and it is not difficult to locate an example in grades up to the MS65 level today. The 1947-D is scarce at the MS67 grade level, however, and none have been certified in higher numeric grades at either of the leading grading services (4/24). This Plus-graded Superb Gem offers well-detailed design elements, with just a touch of the usual softness on the wreath hand. The impeccably preserved, lustrous surfaces show a few highlights of sea-green and lavender-gray toning. Eye appeal is outstanding. Census: 16 in 67+, 3 in 67 S, 1 in 67+ S, 0 finer (4/24).
