1948 FORD POPULAR 103E - History:
Introduced in the late 1930s, the Ford Popular 103E was developed by Ford of Britain to offer a simple, sturdy, and economical car. Based on the Ford 8 (Model Y) platform, it was equipped with a 933 cm³ four-cylinder side-valve engine producing approximately 30 ch.
Produced between 1937 and 1949, with a hiatus during World War II, the Popular enjoyed significant success in the United Kingdom and several European countries. Its particularly simple design and reputation for mechanical reliability made it one of the most iconic British mass-market cars of its era.

Description:
The vehicle shown here is a Ford Popular 103E, equipped with a manual transmission.
The vehicle is being presented as it came out of storage after a very long period of inactivity.
The body appears generally complete and retains its original appearance. The blue paint is old, heavily faded, and covered with a thick layer of dust. Traces of corrosion are visible on several body panels.
The engine compartment is remarkably complete and appears to retain most of its original components. It is equipped with a Ford Type 103E engine, as indicated on the manufacturer’s plate. The entire engine shows significant surface oxidation due to prolonged inactivity. The radiator is in place, as are the alternator, distributor, starter motor, ignition coil, and the main mechanical accessories. The carburetor is present but incomplete, as its upper cover has been removed. No attempt has been made to restart the engine, and its mechanical condition must be considered unknown.
The interior is complete but in a very poor state of preservation. The headliner is completely detached and hanging loose. The seats show heavy wear and significant deterioration of the upholstery. The interior trim, panels, carpets, and various coverings will require a complete restoration. The entire interior needs to be redone, just like the rest of the vehicle.
The manufacturer’s plate is present on the firewall and remains legible. The engine number, C853645, is visible on the firewall. A stamped plate also indicates the chassis number 70342.
The vehicle comes with several old Belgian documents, including an administrative declaration for a classic car, an old registration document, and various certificates establishing its administrative history. No registration certificate.
