1952 BMW R25/2 MOTORCYCLE AND STEIB LT200 TRANSPORT SIDECAR. German, mid-20th Century. The motorcycle an older very high quality restoration, finished in black with white pinstriping, powered by a 247cc single-cylinder overhead-valve engine with shaft drive, leading-link front suspension, Pagusa rubber solo saddle, factory lighting, and tank-mounted VDO instrumentation. Odometer reads 363 miles (actual mileage unknown). Frame serial number 270319, fitted with a later replacement engine casing numbered 364866. Reported to run at time of cataloguing. Together with a (presently) unmounted 1952 Steib LT 200 (built on the same base as the company's LS200 passenger sidecar) with Steib factory-made aluminum and steel utility box with hinged lid, frame, wheel, fender, and spoked wheel. Retaining its factory identification plate bearing serial number 17601. Mounted on its chassis with wheel and suspension in place. The Steib LT200 Light Transport sidecar is an older restoration in excellent condition. Provenance: The Lifetime Collection of the late John J. "Jack" Hentges (Hookstown, Pennsylvania). Cataloger's note: Introduced in 1951, the BMW R25/2 was among the German manufacturer's successful postwar single-cylinder motorcycles, combining economical performance with the durability of shaft-drive engineering. Its distinctive styling and mechanical simplicity have made the model popular among collectors of early postwar European motorcycles. The accompanying Steib LT 200 with Steib factory made aluminum and steel utility box is somewhat rare among Steib offerings. Manufactured by Josef Steib Spezialfabrik of Nuremberg, Steib sidecars were widely associated with BMW motorcycles and remain sought after for their sculptural coachwork and distinctive period appearance. The combination offers an appealing opportunity to complete a period-style BMW motorcycle and special use sidecar outfit. *PLEASE NOTE: BIDDERS ON THIS LOT WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY AND ARRANGE PICKUP NO LATER THAN 11/10/26 IN ORDER TO AVOID A $150 TRANSFER FEE IN ADDITION TO OUR STANDARD STORAGE FEES.
