1952 Lambretta 125 D (ohne Limit / without reserve)
In 1951 Innocenti presented the new Lambretta, the 125 D. At first sight it seemed very similar to its predecessor, but it featured a new frame and a newly developed engine. The power output rose to 5 HP, which made the Lambretta reach 80 km/h. Through all the years of its production the 125 D was continuously improved and today we distinguish three series. Furthermore there was the Lambretta LD model that had full bodywork other than the naked, plain D model.
Until 1956 almost 125,000 exemples of the Lambretta 125 D were built. With its cardan drive it was more innovative than the competition from Piaggio and looking at sales it certainly could compete with those.
A label on the front fork identifies this Lambretta 125 D as a true South Tyrolean. It was delivered new through Touring Garage, the concessionnaire in Bolzano. It has recently been fully restored to a very high quality and with great attention to detail. The outcome is a beautiful example of an early Lambretta.
