1956 GMC 100 Blue Chip V8 Pickup Chassis no. 1018PY5203
316ci OHV V8 EngineSingle CarburetorEst 155bhp at 4,000rpm4-Speed Hydra-Matic Automatic TransmissionFront Independent Suspension - Live Rear Axle4-Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes*Beautifully restored inside and out *Top-of-the-line GMC 100 'Blue Chip' example in charming livery*A must-have period shop truck for any car collection*Easy to drive and guaranteed amusementTHE GMC PICKUPWonderfully flamboyant, its over-the-top styling reflecting the passenger car trends of the period, the Series 100 'Blue Chip' Pickup model offered the best power-to-weight ratio of the entire GMC range. GMC was positioned a step above Chevrolet, and period advertisements touted it as 'Top of the Light-Duty Class.' The new-for-1955 GMC styling was billed as 'Blue Chip Design' and the prestige model was the very special 'Suburban' pickup. The 1956 GMC styling was virtually unchanged from 1955 and featured sleek sides, unique taillights and a panoramic windshield. These luxurious and stylish pickup trucks have very much become a cool 'Americana' statement over the years, owned by the likes of 'King of Cool' himself, Steve McQueen. THE MOTORCAR OFFEREDThis beautiful GMC 100 'Blue Chip' pickup truck appears to have been recipient of a rather comprehensive restoration performed at some stage in the past. The GMC is appropriately finished in a lovely two-tone creamy white over a dusty blue colored livery, while the Deluxe cabin is trimmed in a matching blue and white interior. Color-coded wheels are in place, shod on period-appropriate white wall tires. An abundance of chrome and brightwork is present front and aft, as would be expected for any American car - or truck - of the period, and the floor of the pickup bed is trimmed in wood with stainless steel strips. The truck features the smaller rear window, which is believed to be a rare feature on these trucks. Period 1950s yellow and black California license plates are fitted, further adding to the appropriate looks of the GMC. Out-front under the large hood sits a powerful overhead-valve V8 engine, mated to a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Offered here is a wonderful classic GMC 100 'Blue Chip' pickup, ready to be enjoyed by the next owner.
