THE CADILLAC ELDORADO SEVILLE HARDTOP

1957 brought dramatic new and very attractive styling to the Cadillac Eldorado line. Rather than the squared-off rear quarters topped by small fins, the Eldorados presented a pair of dramatic "shark fins" and a sloping trunk lid sure to catch everyone's eye. There was lavish use of chrome everywhere for this new design, along with gold-plated Vees and other emblems. Caddy Eldorado hardtop coupes and convertibles became the center of attention at every country club in the nation. Although these Cadillacs weighed nearly 2 ½ tons, their 300-horsepower V8s provided good performance, but speed was not their forte; they excelled in carrying up to six passengers in stylish comfort.
