The 100-6 BN4, which was introduced to replace the Austin-Healey 100, was instantly recognizable to the public as an Austin-Healey while introducing several compelling improvements. Chief amongst these was its six-cylinder engine. Additional improvements included two small rear seats being added, a fixed windshield, and a wider radiator grille that was mounted in a slightly lower location compared to its predecessor. Where the 100 was clearly a sports car through and through, the 100-6 offered additional comfort with longer drives in mind, all while still retaining the 100’s sporting character.

As documented by its accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, this Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 was built on 11 March 1959. It left the factory as a left-hand drive example destined for North America, specified for Canadian export. It was originally finished in Healey Blue with a blue top and a blue interior. Factory equipment included wire wheels, roadspeed tires, laminated windscreen, transmission with overdrive, miles-per-hour speedometer, an adjustable steering column, and a heater. While the date of dispatch was not recorded, the certificate does state it was sent to a dealer in Halifax, Canada.

The car has benefitted from a restoration at some point over the course of its life. Today it presents in red with color-matched hardtop and fender-mounted mirrors. It rides on chrome knock-off wire wheels. The interior is trimmed in black with red welting. The dash is wrapped in black leather, and it houses a suite of Smiths instrumentation while providing a resting point for the rearview mirror. The Austin-Healey remains equipped with an overdrive transmission and a Smiths heater. According to the car’s BMIHT certificate it is a numbers-matching chassis, engine, and body example.
