1959 WINCHESTER MODEL 12 FEATHER WEIGHT SHOTGUN

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 1842231f. BARREL: 26". GAUGE: 12 GA. CHOKE: FULL. CHAMBER: 2 3/4". LOP: 14 1/4". MANUFACTURED: 1959. The Winchester Model 12 Featherweight 12-gauge is a lightweight, pump-action shotgun produced from 1958 to 1962 to compete with modern, lighter firearms like the Remington 870. Celebrated for its smooth action and rugged durability, this variant was engineered to lighten the load for upland and waterfowl hunters carrying their firearms over long distances. Unlike the standard take-down Model 12, the Featherweight utilizes a solid-frame design, a modified barrel assembly, and lighter internal alloy parts to drop its overall weight to roughly 6 ?" pounds. Despite the weight reduction, it maintained premium aesthetics and balance with a classic steel receiver and a walnut stock and fore-end. It has a hard rubber Winchester butt plate. With only 52,230 units ever produced, the Featherweight is highly sought after by collectors today. This specific shotgun, serial number 1842231F, was built in early 1959 near the end of the dedicated Featherweight production run. It stands as a rare, highly functional piece of American firearms history from the final golden era of Winchester's traditional, high-quality manufacturing. CONDITION: Very Good. The bore is bright and smooth. There is a VERY small crack near the mounting screw on the right side of forend. Retains much of the original finish. Operates normally. C&R 27-496
