1960 Sunbeam Alpine sports convertible, 1600cc engine, manual gearbox with overdrive, reg. no. 3685 PU, chassis no. B9101624, finished in racing red with black leather upholstery with red piping. This very attractive classic English sports car has been in the Colchester area its entire life. It was supplied by E. Farrow of Cross Engineering, Thorrington to Mr W. Gibbon of Gt. Bentley who after two years sold it to Mrs Draga Douce of Braiswick, Colchester in 1962. Draga Douce was a well known business woman in Colchester who ran a hair dressing salon on North Hill, Colchester. She was the epitome of the 1960s blond bombshell and her car ideally suited her chiche persona. She was so fond of it she kept it until her death in 1995 with a recorded mileage of approx. 55,000 miles from new. It was sold by her executors to a friend who had it restored and whom subsequently sold it to our vendor who has carried out further improvements. It currently has approx. 57,700 miles on the clock which can be backed up by old MOT certificates. Although an older restoration the car presents very well with a good mostly original interior and reportedly drives very well. Supplied with old logbooks, current V5, old MOT certificates and related paperwork and photographs. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT)
