East Asia, China, ca. 1960s to 1970s CE. A decorative bone veneer storage container, incised and painted in polychrome hues. The bone panels are likely bovine and adhered to a wood disc on the lid top, and to non-bone rim and body; the interior is covered in red velvet. The Chinese character inscription on the lid is an auspicious blessing for good luck or fortune. The twin boys depicted around the lid represent He-He Er Xian, Immortals of Harmony and Union. Size: 8" Diameter x 4" H (20.3 cm x 10.2 cm)

Condition Report: Pressure fissures throughout and stable crack to base panel and side of lid rim. Lid top has been recently re-glued to rim with glue residue on velvet surface. Warping / slight bending to bone panels with gaps between upper lid panel and rim. Some patina and discoloration. Fair to good vintage condition.
