Présentée le 15 mars 1961 au Salon de Genève, la Jaguar type E, va très vite devenir une icône, élue plus belle voiture du monde par les journalistes spécialisés. Le Jaguar Heritage Trust qui accompagne notre très désirable Type E "plancher plat" nous apprend qu'elle sortit des chaines le 19 décembre 1961 avant d'être importée aux Etats-Unis par Jaguar New York, le 12 janvier de l'année 1962. Elle a conservé sa livrée d'origine mariant une robe gris " canon de fusil " du plus bel effet sur cette carrosserie, à une capote noire. L'intérieur est désormais d'un très beau gris foncé très proche du noir d'origine. Elle est livrée accompagnée d'un important dossier de factures, de contrôle techniques anciens et d'une expertise datant de 2019. Ces éléments nous permettent de la retrouver en Angleterre dans les années 90, avant son arrivée en France en 1999. Elle changera de mains en 2013 puis en 2014 pour intégrer la collection d'un amoureux de Jaguar qui était déjà en charge de l'entretien avant son achat. Sans être intégralement restaurée, elle a depuis bénéficié de nombreux soins mécaniques et cosmétiques expliquant son bel état aujourd'hui. Son moteur, lui aussi d'origine, a récemment été révisé, la sellerie fut refaite en 2015, et la voiture reçut une peinture neuve. De nombreux éléments ont été remplacés comme en attestent les factures présentes au dossier, c'est le cas notamment de la pompe à essence, de l'embrayage et de la boîte Moss à 4 rapports. Modèle rare et particulièrement recherché des collectionneurs, car correspondant aux premières versions du roadster Type E, elle dispose de 5 roues fils du plus bel effet ainsi que d'un couvre tonneau. Avec sa couleur et son moteur d'origine, notre exemplaire possède de solides arguments pour séduire les amateurs du dessin originel de ce mythe de l'automobile.

Presented at the Geneva Motor Show on March 15, 1961, the Jaguar E Type would very quickly become an icon in its own right, elected as the prettiest car in the world by journalists at the time. The Jaguar Heritage Trust which accompanies this particular example has taught us that it left the factory on December 19, 1961 before being imported to the United States by Jaguar New York on January 12, 1962. It retained its original color combo of beautiful gun metal grey paint and a black top. The interior is now a pretty dark grey, very close to the original black. It is delivered with an important file of invoices, old technical inspections, and an expertise dating from 2019. These elements enabled us to find it in England in the 90s, before its arrival in France in 1999. It changed hands in 2013, then in 2014 when it joined a collection of a Jaguar lover who was already in charge of the maintenance before his purchase. Without being fully restored, it has since benefited from many mechanical and cosmetic touch ups, explaining the beautiful condition today. Its original engine was recently revised, the upholstery was redone in 2015, and the car received new paint. Many items have been replaced according to the invoices on file including the fuel pump and the clutch of the 4-speed Moss gearbox. This is a rare and very sought after model since it is the first version of the E Type roadster and comes with its five beautiful wire wheels and tonneau cover. With ts original engine and color, this is a very compelling buy for any Jaguar enthusiast ready to experience the soul of the world's most beautiful car.
