Ala suite de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’ingénieur Willy Messerschmitt, fameux constructeur d’avions, s’orienta vers l’industrie automobile. Il fit pour cela appel à l’ingénieur Fritz Fend qui avait commercialisé des véhicules légers destinés aux personnes handicapées. La Messerschmitt KR 175 pour Kabinenroller ou « scooter à cabine » de 175 cm3 fut présentée au Salon de Genève en 1953 et fit forte impression. Evoquant un fuselage d’avion, ce tricycle pouvait accueillir deux personnes en tandem. L’accès se faisait par une verrière de cockpit basculant sur le côté à l’image du chasseur ME 109. La mécanique monocylindre à deux temps était d’origine Sachs et la Messerschmitt gagnera en puissance en 1955 avec le montage d’un bloc de 191 cm3 produisant 9.5 chevaux accouplé à une boite de vitesses à 4 rapports. A la croisée des mondes de l’aviation, de la moto et de l’automobile, la Messerschmitt KR 200 est un véhicule atypique bénéficiant d’un capital sympathie hors du commun.
L’exemplaire que nous vous présentons ici fut livré neuf en Suisse en 1963. Il a longtemps fait partie du Musée de l’Automobile des Muriaux jusqu’en 2008 lorsqu’il est finalement vendu en France. Actuellement propriété d’un collectionneur averti, celui-ci a fait l’acquisition de ce Messerschmitt KR200 pour l’offrir à son épouse. Bien qu’elle soit sous le charme de cette amusante petite auto, elle ne s’en sert que trop rarement et souhaite que son mari s’en sépare. Equipée d’une boîte manuelle à 4 rapports accouplée à son moteur Sachs monocylindre de 191 cm3, la petite Messerschmitt fonctionne normalement et l’ensemble se trouve dans un très bel état de présentation. La carrosserie a été restaurée intégralement il y a quelques années alors que le châssis d’origine est en très bon état. Parfaitement documenté, cet exemplaire sera vendu avec de nombreuses factures d’entretien mais aussi des brochures officielles, et enfin son livret d’emploi et d’entretien en français et en allemand.

After the Second World War, the engineer and famous aircraft manufacturer Willy Messerschmitt turned to the automotive industry. To do so, he called on the engineer Fritz Fend, who had produced and sold invalid carriages. The Messerschmitt KR 175 (for Kabinenroller or ‘scooter with a cabin’), with a 175 cc engine, was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1953, where it made a strong impression. Recalling an aircraft fuselage, the three-wheeler had space for two passengers, sitting in tandem. Entry was by means of a canopy which opened on one side, like the ME 109 fighter plane. The single-cylinder two-stroke engine from Sachs gained power in 1955, when a 191 cc unit producing 9.5 bhp was fitted, mated to a fourspeed gearbox. Combining elements from the worlds of aircraft, motorbikes and cars, the Messerschmitt KR 200 is an unconventional vehicle which is exceptionally well liked.
The model we are presenting here was delivered new in Switzerland in 1963. For a long time, it belonged to the car museum in Muriaux, until it was eventually sold in France in 2008. It is currently owned by a discerning collector, who bought the KR 200 as a gift for his wife. Although she was captivated by this delightful little car, she drove it very little and now wishes her husband to sell it. Equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox, mated to the 191 cc Sachs single-cylinder engine, the little Messerschmitt runs properly and is in very good overall condition. The bodywork was completely restored a few years ago, while the chassis is original and in very good order. The car will be sold with comprehensive documentation, including numerous bills for maintenance work, as well as the official sales brochures and its owner’s and service books in French and German.
