Sortie d''usine le 24 octobre 1964 en version conduite à gauche destinée au marché américain, cette Sunbeam Tiger a été importée en Europe et a fait en 2019 l''objet d''une restauration approfondie par BRT Development. Le moteur a été complètement refait avec notamment surfaçage des culasses, réfection de tous les périphériques, ajustage et mise au point. A cette occasion, diverses améliorations ont été apportées, comme un carburateur Holley 650 quatre corps, un arbre à cames et une distribution Comp Cams et un radiateur en aluminium. La transmission (boîte de vitesses, embrayage, pont arrière) a bénéficié de soins comparables (avec ajout d''une commande de boîte Hurst), de même que les freins et les trains roulants, complètement restaurés. Le système d''échappement a reçu des collecteurs tubulaires.
La carrosserie a été entièrement décapée, ce qui a permis de refaire les éléments atteints de corrosion, comme les bas de caisse et la partie inférieure des ailes. Elle a été ensuite ajustée et repeinte d''une couleur gris métallisé qui se marie magnifiquement avec les jantes en magnésium type Minilite. L''intérieur a également bénéficié de soins attentifs, avec réfection de la sellerie et des instruments de bord. La capote en tissu a été refaite et les pneus sont proches du neuf. Les factures qui correspondent à l''ensemble de ces travaux totalisent près de 60 000 €. Elles sont bien sûr consultables, de même que les photos de la restauration.
Mal connue, la Sunbeam Tiger présente l''avantage d''une ligne élégante combinée à un moteur puissant. Pour lui donner naissance, Carroll Shelby a appliqué la même recette qu''avec l''AC Cobra, avec l''aide de son ami Ken Miles, en plaçant dans la Sunbeam Alpine un V8 Ford de 260 ci (4,2 litres). Le rachat de Rootes (qui possédait Sunbeam) par Chrysler a sonné le glas du modèle, qui est donc également rare. Cet exemplaire en superbe état ne saurait échapper à l''œil du connaisseur.

Rolling out of the factory on October 24, 1964 in a left-hand drive version intended for the American market, this Sunbeam Tiger was imported into Europe and underwent a comprehensive restoration by BRT Development in 2019. The engine has been completely redone, including the resurfacing of the cylinder heads, repair of all peripherals, adjustments, and tuning. On this occasion, various upgrades were made, such as a Holley 650 four-barrel carburetor, Comp Cams camshaft and timing belt, and an aluminum radiator. The transmission (gearbox, clutch, rear axle) has benefitted from similar care (with the addition of a Hurst gear lever), as well as the brakes and the running gear, all comprehensively restored. The exhaust system received tubular silencers.
The body was completely stripped, which made it possible to redo the parts affected by corrosion, such as the sills and the lower part of the fenders. It was then adjusted and repainted in a metallic grey shade that blends beautifully with the Minilite-type magnesium rims. The interior has also benefited from attentive care, with refurbishment of the upholstery and on-board instruments. The fabric top has been redone and the tires are almost new. The invoices corresponding to all this work total almost € 60,000. They are, of course, available for consultation, as are the images of the restoration.
Not all that well known, the Sunbeam Tiger has the advantage of an elegant design, combined with a powerful engine. Carroll Shelby applied the same recipe as with the AC Cobra, with the help of his friend Ken Miles, by placing in the Sunbeam Alpine a Ford 260 ci (4.2-liter) V8. The takeover of Rootes (which owned Sunbeam) by Chrysler, sounded the death knell for the model, which is thus very rare. This example, in superb condition, is a must for any true connoisseur.
