Comme de nombreuses Type E, celle-ci a été exportée neuve outre-Atlantique, puis vendue par l'intermédiaire du distributeur new-yorkais à son premier propriétaire, M. Thomas E. Joworowski, de Chicago. Elle était de couleur "Opalescent Maroon" avec intérieur noir, et elle est restée aux États-Unis jusqu'en 2007. A cette date, elle a été exportée en Europe par un M. Wettengel et, en 2010, a fait l'objet d'une restauration intégrale par un atelier basé en République tchèque. De très nombreuses photos et factures permettent de constater l'importance des travaux effectués : nous invitons les acheteurs intéressés à les consulter.
En 2015, elle a été achetée par Staffan Wittmark au spécialiste "Anglo Italian Cars", de Welden, près de Munich. Pour M. Wittmark, la Type E Série 1 bénéficie d'une ligne aussi belle qu'intemporelle, ce qui explique que sa collection en comporte trois modèles. Il a été séduit par la couleur de cette voiture qui rappelle le "Opalescent Maroon" d’origine avec ses reflets chatoyants. Le compartiment moteur, d'une impeccable propreté, reçoit le 6-cylindres XK d'origine. A l'intérieur, des sièges refaits en cuir blanc accueillent les occupants, ainsi qu'un volant Moto-Lita de plus petit diamètre et un autoradio plus moderne.
Cet exemplaire bien restauré est à la hauteur de cette icône de l'automobile dont la ligne stupéfiante a surpris le monde entier lors de sa présentation en 1961 au Salon de Genève. Un émerveillement associé à un indéniable plaisir de conduite, au son envoûtant du souple et puissant 6-cylindres 4,2L.

Like many E-Types, this car was exported new to the States, then sold through Jaguar’s New York distributor to its first owner, Thomas E. Joworowski, from Chicago. It was finished in ‘Opalescent Maroon’ with a black interior, and stayed in the USA until 2007, when it was exported to Europe by a Mr Wettengel. In 2010, it underwent a complete restoration by a workshop based in the Czech Republic. A great many photographs and bills show the extent of the work carried out, and we invite potential buyers to consult them.
In 2015, the car was bought by Staffan Wittmark from the specialist Anglo Italian Cars at Welden, near Munich. For Wittmark, the styling of the Series 1 E-Type is as beautiful as it is timeless, explaining why he has three of them in his collection. He was won over by the colour of this example, which recalls the original ‘Opalescent Maroon’ with its shimmering reflections. The spotless engine compartment houses the original six-cylinder XK unit. Inside, the seats have been reupholstered in white leather and welcome the car’s occupants, as do the smaller Moto-Lita steering wheel and a more recent radio.
This well-restored example lives up to the iconic status of the car, whose breathtaking styling took the world by surprise when it was launched in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show. A thing of wonder and an undeniable pleasure to drive, to the enthralling sound of its powerful and flexible 4.2-litre ‘six’.
