Abarth first turned its attention to FIAT's Nuova 500 in 1957, and in 1963 adopted the most cost-effective method of coaxing greater power from a small engine, introducing a big-bore cylinder block that increased capacity to 593cc for the '595' model, which raised maximum output to 27 horsepower. Abarth's conversion halved the standard car's acceleration times and endowed the 595 with a top speed of more than 75mph (120km/h). Lowered suspension and wider wheels and tyres helped the baby FIAT utilise the increased performance. Introduced the following year, the 595 SS (Sprint Speciale) incorporated further performance enhancements, resulting in a maximum of 32bhp. When FIAT launched the 500F in 1965, it adopted front-hinged doors on a revised and heavier bodyshell, prompting Abarth to respond by boosting the 595 SS's output by a further two horsepower. It is estimated that only 20 FIAT-Abarth 595 SS models were built by the factory.

This delightful little Abarth was first registered on 26th May 1967 to one Sergio Lucca Barlera in Turin. According to a previous owner, the car was subsequently laid-up for a number of years and de-registered before it was purchased in 1994 by an Italian Abarth specialist. The latter restored the Abarth conservatively and registered it again in 2014, with its original numberplates. Offered with ASI homologation papers, the car is described by the vendor as in generally excellent condition.

Nel 1957 Abarth ha rivolto la sua attenzione alla Nuova 500 della FIAT e, nel 1963, ha adottato il metodo più conveniente per ottenere una maggiore potenza da un piccolo motore, introducendo un blocco cilindri a capacità maggiorata che aumentava la cilindrata a 593 cc per il modello '595', aumentando così la potenza massima a 27 cavalli. La conversione di Abarth ha dimezzato i tempi di accelerazione della vettura standard e ha dotato la 595 di una velocità massima di oltre 120 km/h. Sospensioni ribassate, cerchi e pneumatici più larghi hanno aiutato la piccola FIAT a sfruttare le prestazioni migliorate. Introdotta l'anno seguente, la 595 SS (Sprint Speciale) incorpora ulteriori miglioramenti delle prestazioni che la fanno arrivare ad una potenza massima di 32 CV. Quando la FIAT lanciò la 500F nel 1965, adottò le portiere con cerniera anteriore su una scocca rivisitata e più pesante. Questo spinse la Abarth a provvedere, aumentando la potenza massima della 595 SS di altri due cavalli. Si stima che solo 20 esemplari di FIAT-Abarth 595 SS siano stati costruiti dalla fabbrica.

Questa deliziosa piccola Abarth fu immatricolata per la prima volta il 26 maggio 1967 a nome di un certo Sergio Lucca Barlera a Torino. Secondo un precedente proprietario, la vettura è stata successivamente rimessata per diversi anni e stargata, prima di essere acquistata nel 1994 da uno specialista italiano Abarth. Quest'ultimo ha restaurato l'Abarth in modo conservativo e l'ha reimmatricolata, con le sue targhe originali, nel 2014. Offerta con documenti di omologazione ASI, l'auto è descritta dal venditore come in eccellenti condizioni generali.
