THE CITROEN DS/ID

Just as it had done 21 years previously with the revolutionary Traction Avant, Citroen stunned the world in 1955, with the launch of the strikingly styled DS. Beneath the newcomer's aerodynamically efficient, low-drag body shell, there was all-independent, self-leveling, hydro-pneumatic suspension, plus power-operated brakes, clutch, and steering.
With the DS's introduction, Citroen stole a significant advantage over the competition.
No European car would match the DS's ride quality for several years, the fundamental soundness of Citroen's ahead-of-its-time hydro-pneumatic suspension being demonstrated by its survival in computer-controlled form into the 21st century.

In their station wagon version, the ID and later DS for the DS23 were particularly practical. Thanks to the long wheelbase and front-wheel drive configuration, the rear boot was huge and allowed a higher load volume than competing models. In addition, the oleo-pneumatic suspension prevented the car from sagging when loaded, thanks to the weight correction device. This body was proposed by Citroen with various equipment, commercial or family.

THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

The example on offer is an ID20 Break. The extremely clever interior design allows for 6 people to travel on the front and rear seat benches. A further two people can be seated in foldable seats in the trunk compartment. These seats and the rear bench can also be folded down flat, creating a cargo area of over 2m in length. In a way, this car foreshadowed the MP and SUV. This versatility makes it possible to combine business with pleasure: an original car, with a revolutionary shape, ideal for strolling or traveling with the family, which makes it a sought-after model.

Introducing the iconic 1968 Citroën ID 19 B, a classic French automobile that stands out with its sleek design and impressive performance. Originally launched in 1967, this particular model has undergone some noteworthy upgrades that have made it stand out from its predecessors.

One of the most notable upgrades in this ID 19 B is the incorporation of streamlined headlamps in the new front end, giving it a more modern and sophisticated look. In addition, the car now features a new 5-stage engine and has switched to less corrosive green hydraulic fluid (LHM) for added durability and longevity.

The body of the car boasts a stunning "Bleu Angora" (AC 624) exterior, a color specific to the 1968 model year, with a "Blanc Carrara" roof for added contrast. The "or" interior adds a touch of luxury and sophistication, making it a timeless classic.

This ID 19 B was first registered on 15 March 1968 and has since undergone a bodywork refurbishment and a new paint job, as evidenced by the photos in the file. The upholstery is well preserved and seems to be original. The car has only clocked 27,507 km on the odometer, with technical inspection records dating back to 1992 when it showed 7,563 km. The passenger compartment is equipped with front and rear seat belts, and a warning system has been adapted for added safety. The DV type engine is mated to a manual gearbox, ensuring an authentic and classic driving experience.

This Citroën ID 19 B has been well taken care of by its current owner, who has provided repairs when necessary, and all invoices will be included in the file. It is in sound mechanical condition, having recently undergone a full overhaul on the brakes and suspension, including the replacement of all brake hydraulic spheres. This car is road-ready and a joy to drive, providing a unique and unforgettable driving experience.

Included in the file are the original maintenance manual, as well as photos of the restoration and respray, and all relevant documents and receipts. This Citroën ID 19 B is a rare find and sure to attract the attention of connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. Its sleek design, impressive performance, and well-preserved condition make it a true gem of automotive history.
