1969 BELGIAN BROWING LIGHT TWELVE SHOTGUN
SERIAL NUMBER: 69G70685. BARREL: 23 1/2". GAUGE: 12 GA. CHOKE: MOD (as gauged). CHAMBER: 2 3/4". LOP: 14 1/2". MANUFACTURED: 1969. This Browning Auto-5 "Light Twelve" is a classic long-recoil semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Herstal, Belgium, in 1969. The receiver bears the serial number 69G70685, where the "69" denotes the production year and the "G" signifies the lightweight 12-gauge configuration. It is equipped with a period-correct, 1969-manufactured barrel stamped with serial number G97491. While both components are from the exact same production year, the non-matching serial numbers indicate the barrel was swapped during its lifetime, a common occurrence for working field guns of this era. The barrel features a 12-70 oval proof stamp, confirming it is chambered for standard 12-gauge 2 ?-inch (70mm) shells. A previous owner professionally shortened it to its current 23 ?-inch length to create a fast-handling "brush gun." Because cutting the barrel removed the original muzzle constriction, the shotgun now functions as an open Cylinder bore. This unique setup makes it an exceptionally nimble, quick-pointing field gun optimized for close-range upland game hunting or firing standard lead slugs. CONDITION: Good. The shotgun has been reblued / reworked at some point. There is evidence of pitting on the metal surfaces, hence the rework. The bore is smooth and bright. The stocks are Very Good and appear to be upgrades. Operates normally. C&R 26-576
