1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 KK 1877 Unrestored
This Black Jade Boss 429 was sold new by W.B. Slater Inc. in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania. In 1975 Dan Mediss found it sitting behind a corn crib when he went out to a farm with his dad, who sold farm machinery. His dad co-signed for it, and Dan drove it home on August 5, 1975 with about 10,300 miles on it. He hit the trip odometer that day and it's never been reset. In the 51 years since, the car has added only 3,337 miles. It sat in storage for years, came back out for shows in 1989, and has ridden well over 100,000 miles in a trailer to events all over the eastern US.
It's an unrestored car, and Dan says the paint is about 90% original with a few small spots touched up. It was built June 5, 1969 at Dearborn. It has black high-back buckets, the Deluxe Decor interior, a close-ratio 4-speed, 3.91 Traction-Lok, power steering, power front discs, a console, AM radio, color-keyed racing mirrors, competition suspension and the trunk-mounted battery. It still sits on its original Magnum 500s with center caps and the original front Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. In 1995, at the first Ford Carlisle Nationals, the car was picked to sit in the tent with Larry Shinoda, who signed the sun visor and the original dealer invoice. It's also been shown at the Glenmoor Gathering and featured in two magazines.
This was never a garage queen. Dan drag raced it, running as quick as 13.07 at 107 mph at National Trails in Columbus, Ohio, and he still takes it to Beaver Springs Dragway. The cam has been changed, and it has a few upgrades like electronic ignition and Flowmaster mufflers. Dan says the driveline is original, and the original pieces that came off go with the car. Those include the original Autolite battery that was in it when it was delivered, the original exhaust manifolds, H-pipe and tailpipes, the original oil pump, the space saver spare, tables of bagged and labeled original parts, and the original front chin spoiler that came with the car but was never installed. MILEAGE: 13670. VIN: 9F02Z198841.
