To celebrate Jeff Smith’s back-to-back Motocross World Championship victories, BSA introduced a race replica called the B44 Victor GP at the 1965 Earls Court Motorcycle Show. This model featured a frame derived from the BSA works racers and was powered by a 34 hp “round fin” engine. The following year, BSA launched a road-legal variant of the Victor GP that was equipped from the factory with lighting and other accessories. Initially offered as the Victor Enduro in the UK and the Victor Special in the US, the Victor Special moniker was adopted for all markets beginning in 1967 and the model remained in production until 1971, when it was finally replaced by the B50 Victor Trail.

These popular bikes featured a thumping 441 cc four-stroke single, aluminum fuel and oil tanks, dual seat with passenger grab rails, and a mid-mounted pea-shooter exhaust system. Dramatically finished with a polished tank, with vibrant yellow paint and red BSA graphics, the Victor Special was one of the most exciting large-displacement scramblers of its day, offering tremendous low-end torque that made it competitive with the latest crop of European and Japanese two-strokes.

According to the consignor, this late-production 441 Victor Special is a well-preserved, largely original example that was once part of a significant private motorcycle collection. Finished in its iconic livery and properly outfitted with Dunlop Gold Seal off-road tires, this BSA is a fine example of one of the most attractive and collectible British factory scramblers ever produced.
