Cushman Motor Works was incorporated in 1913 and became well known for producing a wide variety of engines for farm, home, and recreational uses. In 1936, Cushman began manufacturing a line of small, easy-to-operate scooters for civilian and military applications, with production continuing until 1965. As scooter production was coming to a close, Cushman began building other small, light-duty three-wheeled vehicles for use as golf carts, grounds maintenance vehicles, and police vehicles, among others.

While the early history of this charming Haulster is not known, it was purchased by the consignor in the early 1990s from a neighbor in Vista, California. Just days after its acquisition, the specialists at Classic Showcase commenced a full restoration of the Haulster. The work included an engine rebuild, new paint, new upholstery, and bodywork, as well as addressing the hydraulics and electrical systems, exhaust, tires, and brakes. In addition, a custom seating arrangement was made inside the bed, which included removable side panels, seat, and rubber mat, to allow for a range of uses. According to the consignor, it is believed that less than 100 miles have been added to the engine since being rebuilt. In preparation for the auction, the Haulster was recently serviced and received a new battery.

Finished in a striking green livery with white and black accents, this semi-enclosed flatbed trike is complemented by a full set of gauges, lighting, windscreen wiper, and new instructional and warning stickers. Rarely offered in restored condition, this Haulster could be a welcome addition to any ranch or vineyard.
