Sold New at Colorado Honda in January 1972
A Two-Owner Example Documented from New

An Uncommonly Preserved CB450

444 CC DOHC Parallel-Twin Engine

45 BHP at 9,000 RPM
5-Speed Manual Gearbox
Front and Rear Mechanical Drum Brakes
Front Telescopic Fork
Rear Trailing-Arm Suspension with Twin Shock Absorbers

By 1971, the CB450 had cemented itself as Honda’s middleweight performance bike. The CB450 offered most of the style of the mighty CB750, but with a more approachable and modest 45 hp twin-cylinder engine. The CB line became a ubiquitous sight across America, where their popularity made them the best-selling bikes in their segment.

This incredible CB450 is a time-warp example that was purchased new in Colorado Springs by Russell Fredrickson, a career military fighter pilot. Mr. Fredrickson chose the beautiful shade of Candy Gold for his CB and, though it saw very little use over his 45-year ownership, he cared for the bike fastidiously, showing his affinity for it.

The consignor purchased the Honda from Mr. Fredrickson in 2017, becoming just its second owner. It currently shows just 508 miles which, along with the paint and tires, are original according to the consignor. Its well-preserved condition and limited use present a CB of uncommon quality, and this 450 is a reference example of the model. Accompanying the CB at auction are period registration cards from new, along with the bike’s original warranty card carrying the name of Russell Fredrickson. For those that require only the best, this remarkable CB450 should be on the short list of offerings to pay attention to.

*Please note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and will require mechanical maintenance prior to road use.
