Corral Gran Reserva 1973 (3 bottles)

Bodegas Corral S. A. - (Navarrete, La Rioja)

D. O. : RIOJA

"The first steps of Bodegas Corral were taken almost 20 years before the founding of the company by businessman Saturnino Daroca. This Rioja native reintegrated into civilian life after the Third Carlist War (1872-1876) settled in Navarrete and began to replant vines in the municipalities of Entrena, Medrano and Sojuela. The beginnings focused on selling large quantities of made wine to be exported to France. At the end of the last decade of the 19th century, the demand for bulk goods for France fell and Saturnino's son-in-law, Martín Corral, established a small company, giving it his last name: Bodegas Corral.

Corral wines have historically been characterized by a great balance between all their components. The aging in barrels, relatively short by the most traditional standards of Rioja, maintained the varietal expression of the Tempranillo grape without the wood taking center stage. The care of the wines by Bodegas Corral is known in Spain. Only the best vintages were bottled and the most expressive reds, the reserva Don Jacobo and the gran reserva Corral, were marketed later than the wines from the rest of the neighboring wineries. "
