1981 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SPIRIT - History:
Unveiled in 1980, the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit ushered in a new generation of luxury sedans for the Crewe-based brand. Succeeding the Silver Shadow II, it adopted a more modern design while retaining the aesthetic hallmarks that have made Rolls-Royce famous: an imposing silhouette, handcrafted finishes, and exceptional comfort.
Equipped with the famous 6.75-liter V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission, the Silver Spirit also featured a complex high-pressure hydraulic system derived from Citroën’s technology, which powered the brakes and the self-leveling suspension.
Produced from 1980 to 1989 before being replaced by the Silver Spirit II, this first series remains highly sought after today for its timeless elegance, driving comfort, and build quality.

Description:
The vehicle shown here is a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit first registered on February 17, 1981.
The original paint has developed a significant patina with various signs of wear and will require restoration to regain its full luster. The chrome trim, moldings, and exterior accessories appear to be present. There is corrosion in various places.
The interior is complete and retains its original upholstery. The beige leather upholstery shows normal wear and tear due to its age but remains well-preserved. The wood trim on the dashboard and center console is present, as are the main original features, notably the onboard telephone. A thorough cleaning will enhance the overall appearance. The wood trim on the door panels is in poor condition.
The engine compartment appears to be particularly complete and has clearly not undergone any major modifications. The various components specific to the Rolls-Royce hydraulic system are still in place. Since the vehicle is being presented straight from storage, a complete mechanical overhaul will be required before any use.
The trunk is also very complete. The four original Rolls-Royce wheel covers are present, as are the various trim pieces.
The documentation accompanying this Silver Spirit includes, notably, the Belgian registration certificate, the certificate of conformity, a previous Belgian vehicle inspection report, and various administrative documents detailing the vehicle’s history. The various numbers listed on the manufacturer’s plates match those appearing on the documents.
