Lot details Registration No: HWV 616X Chassis No: JM1FB3311C0645741 MOT: Exempt Offered with current V5C document In running order with attention already paid to the braking system Requiring recommissioning and restoration An exciting project Mazda first brought out their RX7 in 1978 and was powered by 2.3-litre ‘12A’ Wankel rotary engine delivering around 101bhp to the rear wheels. With a five-speed gearbox and rear-wheel drive, it proved a popular choice. Lightweight (weighing under 1000kg), with its distinctive wraparound all-glass tailgate, four-link rear suspension, pop-up headlamps, and neatly integrated bumpers plus its excellent proportions it was famed for its 50:50 weight distribution was lauded by Car & Driver magazine, making it onto their 'Ten Best' list in 1983. Finished in Gold 'HWV 616X' is a left-hand drive US market 1982 example of the RX-7, it hails from a Stateside owner before coming to the UK in 2023. Purchased in Texas by the current vendor, a 1997 Texas DMV inspection sticker is still present in the windscreen. Described by the vendor as ‘running’ and having had some ‘attention to the brakes’, this is an RX-7 for restoration and recommissioning. Believed to be solid underneath, this example could be a rewarding opportunity to purchase an RX-7 worthy of bringing back to the road. It is offered with a current V5C document.
