En mars 1984 au salon de Genève, Peugeot présente la déclinaison sportive de sa petite citadine 205 apparue un an plus tôt : la 205 GTI. D'abord proposée en version 1.6L de 105 chevaux, en mars 1986 elle est disponible en 115 chevaux sur option, puis dès la fin de cette année l'option devient de série et une autre version 1.9L développant 130 chevaux est également disponible.
La GTI de la vente fait partie de la première série et reste la plus recherchée aujourd'hui. Elle est vendue neuve dans le Var à un premier propriétaire qui la conserve jusqu'en 2009. Il la revend à 64 371 km au deuxième propriétaire qui la conserve trois ans. L'actuel propriétaire, un garage spécialisé dans la compétition, l'acquiert en 2015 et la restaure intégralement aussi bien en carrosserie, à partir du hydrau-décapage de la caisse, jusqu'à la mécanique (moteur et boîte) complètement révisée. Le faisceau électrique est partiellement remplacé, le freinage est refait, le tout avec des pièces d'origine. Le travail est fidèle à la configuration d'origine, ce qui en fait un joyau aujourd'hui. Cette belle 205 totalise 96 000 km et fera le bonheur d'un collectionneur nostalgique de ces petites bombes citadines.

In March 1984 at the Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot unveiled the sporty version of the compact 205 city car, which had appeared a year earlier: the 205 GTI. First offered in a 105bhp 1.6L version, it was also available with an optional 115bhp in March 1986 and by the end of '86 a 130bhp 1.9L version was offered too.
The GTI on sale is from the first series and remains the most sought after today. It was sold new in the Var to a first owner who retained it until 2009. He sold it at 64,371km to the second owner, who kept it for three years. The current owner, a specialized motorsport garage, acquired it in 2015 and restored it entirely, stripping the body, and comprehensively overhauling the mechanicals (engine and gearbox). The wiring harness was partially replaced, the braking redone, all with original parts. The work was as per the original configuration, making it a jewel of a car today. This beautiful 205, with 96,000km on the clock, will surely delight an enthusiast of pocket rockets.
