1986 Mini City E, 998cc. Registration number D853 UJM. VIN number SAXXL2S1020324519. Engine number 99HB81P0124441.
Sold with the V5C, 3,396 miles from new, 2 x keys (5 in total), partial MOT history, tool kit.
The classic Mini was a revolution on wheels, with an extraordinary level of accommodation for its size and an innovative rubber cone suspension system that helped endow the newcomer with go kart-like handling. Over 41 years the remarkable model progressed through no less than seven generations, and it was during the seven-year reign of the MKIV version that the base model of Sir Alec Issigonis’s ubiquitous baby was dubbed the Mini City. It was powered by a 998cc version of the A series engine that had an output of 41bhp, which was sufficient to propel the little car to 60mph in around 19.7 seconds and on to a terminal speed of some 84mph. As an entry-level model produced during the mid-1980s, the City E was designed to offer a "no frills" and straightforward driving experience.
This example, offered in metallic Silver Leaf, with a Prussian Blue interior is a remarkable find. Recently discovered by our vendor inside a long term owners house, it has only covered a remarkable 3,396 miles from new.
Unfortunately there is no paper history to back this up but the DVLA MOT history shows 3,308 miles in 2007, 3,334 in 2008, then 3,462 in 2010 (?) and 3,389 in 2021. When you examine the car this is backed up by the original stickers and condition. It has an MOT until July 2027, new tyres have recently been fitted all round.
